More about Barbara

Born Sydney Australia 1958

Studied Visual Arts and Art Education at UNSW College of Fine Arts - 1984-89

Still in her teens, Barbara back-packed through New Zealand, went on to Sri Lanka and eventually England, Scotland and Ireland. It was at this time in her life that the magic of the west coast of Ireland beckoned.

After a detour of 30 years which included co-owning and managing a world-class horse trekking business in the Rocky Mountains in Northern New Mexico, she has returned and now lives in West Cork Ireland.

Barbara has always been a teacher. Whether it was art, equestrian sports, or mainstream classroom education, quality and professionalism have always been her aim.

A woman of "unusual occupations" has allowed her to develop unique skills such as veterinary nursing, dog training, horseshoeing and farriery, horse and rider coaching, curriculum development and public speaking. Creating images; whether as drawings, linocut prints or paintings has been the thread running throughout her life.

In 2010 Barbara and her husband, artist Paul Becker, designed and built a beautiful home from the ground up in Medanales New Mexico.
